The Be Smart Educator Excellence Awards Guide
PDF Version
The Be Smart Educator Excellence Awards are designed to recognize Southeast Wisconsin teachers and youth group leaders who help our communities reduce waste or pollution, save energy, or conserve water. Since recycling should be well established in Wisconsin, this awards program is looking for efforts that go beyond what is required by Wisconsins recycling law.
These cash awards are presented by the Southeast Wisconsin Waste Reduction Coalition to recognize educators who have made significant contributions to waste reduction and resource conservation by teaching others, carrying out waste reduction activities, or promoting changes in their school or community. A special category of awards will recognize educators who supported the work of students participating in the Be Smart Scholarship Competition.
Nominations for the Be Smart Educator Excellence Awards may be made by colleagues or students, or the educators may nominate themselves. A complete nomination must include the following:
- the enclosed Nomination Form (you may nominate yourself)
- a description of waste reduction activities
- two "Letters of Support" from students or colleagues.
Nominations must be received by April 16. Awards will be presented at a special ceremony to be held in Spring.
